Is it possible, that the body is a boundary, like a fence line. On one side of the fence line is the Deva. On the other side is the soul. The fence is the I, the point of awareness that gives consciousness existence. The Deva wants the attention of I. They evolve from being controlled. Man evolves from self control. Is it possible the voices I hear that surmount to the endless desires that arise...are infact the pull of attention of I toward the Deva.
